Welcome to Fenchurch Legal

Fenchurch Legal is a provider of litigation finance with an innovative approach, based in the heart of Mayfair, London. We offer flexible and cost-effective litigation funding solutions to UK Law Firms regulated by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority to fund small ticket ATE (“After the Event”) claims and their disbursements, which are insured by an ATE insurance policy.

Flexible & Cost-Effective Funding Solutions

The funding we provide comprises of short-term tailored loans of up to 12 months to UK Law Firms with interest front-loaded and capital returned at maturity.

Early Stage Disbursements & WIP Funding

Our funding solutions offer a provision of capital for pre-litigation costs for cases, such as expert reports and ATE policies as well as litigation costs and an element of work in progress.

Extremely Fast Rapid Lending Decisions

To address the financial and timing pressures litigation may bring, our team aims to deliver quick funding decisions and a responsive, open relationship with Law Firms throughout the life of a case or portfolio of cases.

Litigation can be an expensive and lengthy process for legal firms and traditional bank funding routes are generally not available. Law firms cannot always pursue good cases made available to them due to lack of funding or cashflow needed to fund work in progress, costs and disbursements.

The ATE claims market is a separate market to traditional litigation finance even though they share many common features. Traditionally the litigation market operates in a way whereby lenders fund law firms directly or fund cases at the outset. When funding costs and disbursements of an ATE claim, loans are made directly on a case by case basis and insured by an ATE policy. ATE insurance covers the legal costs incurred and expenses involved in litigation cases. In the event that a Law Firm loses a case, they can claim on the ATE policy to recover their legal expenses and costs whilst running the case.

Fenchurch Legal provides an upfront loan facility to fund all or part of a claimant’s legal costs incurred through a claim, enabling Law Firms to take-on a significantly greater amount of cases than normal.
